As anyone who has relocated half way across the country will know, moving costs are no joke. So when I took the plunge and moved from my modern South London flat to my 1800s chocolate box cottage in Cornwall, I had to think carefully about furnishings that wouldn’t break the bank. Naturally, I still wanted quality and aesthetics to match my newfound cottagecore obsession, and that’s when I came across Dusk. The homeware brand offers a plethora of home furnishings, from table lamps to wardrobes and everything in between, all at very reasonable price points and in styles to suit almost anyone.
First on my list was a new bed frame, especially as my grandmother’s words of wisdom played over in my mind: set up your bed first, the rest can wait. And of course, she was right. So, as I searched for my new bed via Dusk.com, I kept an eye out for something that looked quick and easy to assemble, sturdy enough to last, and most importantly, a warm and cosy vibe. Enter the ‘Chambery’ bed frame.
Thankfully, the delivery process was well organised and went smoothly, which of course is what you’d hope for at the best of times, but particularly during a house move. I was able to choose my delivery date, and the time slot was communicated both via text and email beforehand, putting my mind at ease. The bed frame arrived in a few, easily manageable boxes (much to my delight after an exhausting day of shifting furniture into my new home).
What was even better than the smooth delivery process was how simple the bed was to assemble. Although the instructions recommended two people to build the bed, I am a notoriously impatient person and couldn’t wait for my partner to be free to help me, and I managed perfectly well on my own.
At just £409, I originally had some trepidation about what the quality of this bed would be like. After all, previous budget bed frames in my life had proven to be a rickety nightmare after a while. But I can confidently say that the Dusk Chambery bed frame is an excellent quality bed, and feels as sturdy and supportive as the day it arrived. The velvet fabric headboard brings warmth to the room, creating the cosy cottage look I had dreamed of, as well as being very comfortable when sitting up in bed. I chose the berry colourway, but it also comes in taupe, natural chevron, stone grey and ink, meaning it can suit any bedroom. The curve of the headboard and regency-style legs bring a timeless charm to my room, again adding to the snug and cosy feel. My experience with Dusk has only left me with one question: what else can I add to basket?
