If we may be permitted a pun about wonder walls, then surely this is the place for it, now that this showstopper of a house recently occupied by Liam Gallagher is up for sale. It was reported back in May 2024 that the Oasis star had moved into this Grade-II-listed house near Stroud in Gloucestershire with his fiancée, film producer Debbie Gwyther, with local residents surprised to bump into him walking the dog in local beauty spots. The property was on the market before Liam rented it, and now it's back, suggesting that Liam wasn't quite ready to settle down there – but perhaps some lucky Oasis fan will.
There has been a house on the site since the 16th century, but its current incarnation is a Victorian Gothic fantasy built in the mid-19th-century for the wealthy cloth manufacturer and local politician Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, 1st Baronet. The house stayed in the family for several generations and received at least one visit from royalty. The 3rd Baronet's wife was a friend of Queen Mary's, and was visited by the Queen in 1941. In its more recent past, it was bought by the property developer Rebekah Seddon-Wickens, who has given it a modern refresh.
Without a doubt this is a house suitable for rock stars and all their associated parties. There are 11 bedrooms to house the retinue, a billiard room, a gym, sauna and a wine cellar capable of holding 4000 bottles – a Champagne Supernova, if you will. There is even a ballroom, which perhaps could serve for an impromptu concert, with glorious views stretching all the way into the Black Mountains of Wales. While the listed status of the house has meant that its high Victorian features, including plentiful wood panelling and plasterwork ceilings, have remained intact, the less public-facing spaces such as the kitchen and the bedrooms are glamorous enough to keep pop royalty happy.
