Vesper martini

The cocktail to order at Jackson Boxer's Vesper restaurant is, of course, the eponymous martini

At Vesper, the drink to order is, predictably, a Vesper martini. Made with two different kinds of gin, British vodka, an aperitif called Tempus Fugit and a twist of lemon, it is perfectly cold and punchy. A drink you know and love, but done with panache.

Other recipes from Vesper published on the House & Garden website include a simple green salad with Spenwood cheese, a chocolate cake with sour cream – and Jackson's take on roast chicken with bread sauce.

The House & Garden archive is full of cocktail recipes, from Eleanor Steafel's low-effort bitter Shirley Temple to Athina Kontos's spiced pomegranate mojito.
